Brighton Christmas lights switch-on date revealed

Brighton's unique Christmas lights will be switched on in style next month, with a street party to kick off the festive season in the city centre.

The big Christmas lights switch-on event will take place in East Street on Thursday, November 15 from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.

There will be a festive party with a show from Brighton performers before the light switch-on.

Brighton’s lights feature festive phrases, such as ‘Ding Dong!’ and ‘Ho Ho Ho’.

The lights are paid for by the 517 city centre businesses which make up the Brilliant Brighton businesses improvement district – they collectively fork out £75,000 per year for the Christmas lights.

And late night shopping is back on Thursday, November 29 and Thursday, December 13, with retailers opening until 8pm/
