Brighton is firmly established as a foodie destination and attracts diners outside of the city and also from the other side of the Atlantic.

OpenTable, an online restaurant booking service, has said Brighton is seen as a top foodie destination with 53 per cent of online reservations being made by visiting diners from outside Brighton.

UK OpenTable users visiting the city and making restaurant reservations are coming from London, West Sussex, Kent, Surrey and East Sussex, ad international diners are coming from the US cities New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Orlando/Florida.

Adrian Valeriano, vice president of OpenTable, said: “Brighton has established itself as one of the most vibrant and exciting dining destinations for both UK diners and those from further afield.

“We are excited to continue working closely with our partners in the city to bring them local and international diners and opening up this culinary hot spot to an ever growing and discerning audience.”

In 2018, classic British fayre proved to be the most popular choice for Brighton diners. With the second most popular restaurant choice being a grill, closely followed by steakhouse, vegetarian/ vegan and Brazilian cuisine rounding off the top five choices.
