Brighton's Chilli Pickle triumphs at curry '˜Oscars'

A restaurant has once again triumphed at the '˜Oscars' of the curry industry, writes Madhu Chitgopker.

Brighton-based Chilli Pickle won the award for Best Takeaway in the UK for the third time at The British Curry Awards 2016.

The ceremony, which is often referred to as the Curry industry’s ‘Oscars,’ was hosted last Monday at Battersea Evolution, London.

The Chilli Pickle, based on Jubilee Street, was also runner up for the Best Casual Dining honour.

Chef and owner Alun Sperring (pictured with Dawn Sperring) said: “It is absolutely amazing. There were so many great restaurants who we were competing against.

“To be recognised as top of the pile is an amazing accolade. It is definitely something that we really cherish and don’t take for granted.”
