Quiz: last Saturday evenings quiz was great fun. Hosted by the village hall committee and compered by those great quiz masters Steve Bennett and Terry Parker. The questions were a mix bag of easy peasey and I know this one what is it? Steve & Terry always come up with some great question catergories. As for the marathon, well odd one out should be easy shouldn’t it. Mmm not with these two. Well done guys another cracking brain work out The hot supper with cold desserts was delicious thanks to the ladies of the hall. Nine teams took part and after expenses it is hoped to have raised another £350 towards the new window. The winners were 4J’s plus 2 with 99 points just one point ahead of Be Prepared. Thank you everyone who supported this great evening.

Slimming: The new session of The Community weight loss Challenge began last Tuesday evening at the Etchingham Village hall. The sessions will follow on from the new dance exercise class that runs at 7pm in the hall. Some of us are going to give the exercise class ago before we weigh. Others are coming along at 8pm just for the weigh in. If you would like to join us please call sue Tonkin on 01892 784741 to find out more details. This is a bit different from the normal weight loss challenge meetings and should be fun.

Quiz night: Tonight is quiz night in the Pavilion at Burwash Common. You are invited to enter teams of up to six people. Always great fun with the entry fees being returned as prize money, one not to be missed for all quiz lovers. The fun begins at 8pm. Call Karol on 01435 883318 for more information.

Fete: Tomorrow, Saturday the Burwash Common playing fields will be holding their annual summer fete. They try to run this like a traditional fete and include a fun dog show, children’s competitions and races, and the longest runner bean! Attractions include a miniature Agricultural stem engine, assault course, bouncy castle, tombola, raffle, bric a brac, coconut shy, side shows barbecue and teas & refreshments and lots more. Music throughout the afternoon by the Wadhurst silver Band. Here’s hoping the weather will be kind to them. do go along and enjoy this event. The fun begins at 2pm.

NSY: The members of the Burwash Not So Young club will meet in the village hall on Thursday at 2.15pm. The senior members of our community enjoy a varied programme of talks, a lunch at Christmas, summer garden party, and so much more. This week they will be entertained by Alan Haines with a talk called A Kick up the 60’s. The talk will be followed by tea and cakes. Bateman’s: Tomorrow is heritage open day at the home of Rudyard Kipling. Your chance to explore this beautiful place from 11am to 5om. Free admission. Next Saturday It is a Treasury of tree Tale and the Great British walking festival. Normal admission charges with a chance to join the ranger on a two hour walk around the three hundred acre Bateman’s estate and learn about trees of the High Weald, their history and common uses and folklore. Postal Quiz: The autumn postal quiz is ready to send out. This time all the clues are anagrams and the answers are all food, main courses and desserts. These fun quizzes are a great way to raise funds for different charities. This time all the money raised will be given to The Get Together Christmas lunch for the senior members of our three villages. The lunches are all done by volunteers from fund raising, preparing, serving and cleaning away. Some of the money comes from the raffle held on the day but with over 100 people sitting down to eat it takes a fair amount of money to make sure each person gets a good meal. The quiz is £2 for 100 questions and you have until the beginning of December to return them.
