Brighton Italian restaurant handed prestigious award from Michelin Guide

The Bib Gourmand awards are for restaurants serving ‘good quality, good value cooking’.

The 2019 awards were announced last week and Brighton’s Cin Cin was added to that list, joining fellow Brighton restaurants The Chilli Pickle and 64 Degrees.

David Toscano, Cin Cin founder, said: “It’s been a quiet dream of ours to achieve a Bib Gourmand for our food and something that I have always worked towards with our head chef Jamie Halsall. But I am bit shocked to have won it this year to be honest given we have been open less than two years!

“It’s great recognition for Jamie and his team of chefs who deliver consistently high quality menus and I work to keep it as affordable so it is as accessible to as many customers as possible.

“I had a simple goal when I opened Cin Cin – to give Brighton the Italian food it deserves – and this award recognises that we are doing that, week in week out. A massive thank to you all of our team and to our fantastic customers who have supported us from day one.”

Jamie Halsall, head chef, said: “This is absolutely wonderful news! We have a great team of people across our restaurants who work tirelessly. It’s just brilliant to get some recognition of all of that hard work and everyone in the team should enjoy this. We are going to celebrate this one!”

Cin Cin opened in Vine Street, Brighton, in November 2016, with the second Hove restaurant opening in Western Road in January 2018.

The Michelin Guide will announce its 2019 stars later today (October 1).
