An award-winning pub in Portslade will go on sale in an online property auction next month.
The Stanley Arms in Wolseley Road is currently trading as a pub, and its sale is ‘an exciting opportunity for people in the hospitality industry looking to embark on a new venture’, auctioneers John Pye Property said.
The historical building dates back to circa 1884, and has capacity for 70 guests within the traditional bar and a further 30 seats within the beer garden. There is also a cellar and living accommodation with three bedrooms, a lounge, kitchen, bathroom and office space.
The pub is an eight times winner of the Brighton and South Downs CAMRA Pub of the Year.
Richard Reed, head of property at John Pye Property, said: “In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of public houses sold, however this needn’t spell doom and gloom for The Stanley Arms; having been a prominent part of the local community for many years I suspect a lot of people would prefer to see the pub sold to a buyer who will retain its existing use.
“I anticipate there being a lot of interest in this building when it is offered to auction on September 19 and 20 with a guide price of £325,000+. There is ample space to develop the premises to expand the food offering to include hot meals and the outside space could be easily enhanced with minimal investment.
“Should the property not attract interest from within the hospitality industry, the building could easily be converted into up to four residential apartments, subject to the appropriate planning consent.”
