What wonderful coverage in this paper last week of the proud and triumphant Catsfield School celebrating their well-deserved glowing Ofsted report – a front page to gladden all our hearts!

Tremendous excitement over the football results for the 16th November. The second team won at home against Battle Baptists by 8 goals to 2, but then the seconds are having an excellent first season. The first team, who have been struggling, battled hard against Wadhurst away in a cup match to win after extra time 6 - 5. Our goals were scored by Nigel Champion who got two jointly with Tony Luke, Nick Gurr got one and the other was an own goal. Saturday 23rd sees the first team away to old rivals Crowhurst and the seconds at home against Victoria Baptists in the Eastbourne Coach Finishers Cup.

A Message of Good Cheer from Ruth Tomkins from the East Sussex Admiral Nurses Fundraisers!

The East Sussex Admiral Nurses Fundraisers are pleased to announce some good news to wrap up 2013. Dementia UK and Bupa have partnered together to provide the first Admiral Nurse in East Sussex. Caroline Woodcock, Bupa Admiral Nurse, will be based in Eastbourne. Her role will be “outward facing” – meaning that in addition to working in the three Bupa homes in Eastbourne, Bexhill and Brighton to improve dementia services, she will also support families affected by dementia in these areas.

Wendy Weidner, Dementia Pioneer for Dementia UK said, “We are so pleased to have Caroline joining us as the new Bupa Admiral Nurse. Bupa and Dementia UK are committed to improving support for families living with dementia and we’re excited to be working in East Sussex. We’re hopeful that by finally having an Admiral Nurse in the area to demonstrate positive impact, this will lead to new partnerships in East Sussex and allow us to increase the number of Admiral Nurses we have in the area.”

Professor Graham Stokes, Director of Dementia Care, Bupa said, “Providing the first Admiral Nurse in East Sussex is another valuable step towards making communities more dementia friendly. Caroline will play a vital role in providing support to families and carers who are often confused by what the future holds if a loved one is diagnosed with the disease”.

The East Sussex Admiral Nurse Fundraisers would like to thank the many supporters who have contributed over the years to Admiral Nursing and look forward to increasing the number of nurses in 2014! The appointment of Caroline Woodcock in East Sussex brings the total number of new Bupa Admiral Nurses nationwide to six since Dementia UK and Bupa partnered together.
