Children's book festival at dlwp

If you love reading don't miss the Children's Book Festival at the De La Warr Pavilion on September 26.

Festival coordinator Jean Burke said: "This will be our sixth Festival and we are extremely pleased to be bringing Lauren Child to Bexhill - Clarice Bean and Charlie and Lola, amongst others - along with Caroline Lawrence, whose Roman Mysteries stories have recently been televised.

"Steve Cole with his Astrosaurs and Cows in Action series will appeal to boys of all ages and Dawn Casey is a storyteller with great family appeal.

"IDOLRICH theatre are performing, with the help of the audience, a version of The Hare and the Tortoise with a puppet making workshop to encourage the children to take part."

Bookings for the Children's Book Festival are through the De La Warr Pavilion box office and details can be found on the DLWP website .

The Children's Bookshow (www.thechildrensbookshow.com), a national touring book event, will be starting their tour at the Pavilion on Friday September 25 with the wonderful Michael Rosen, the former Children's Laureate and local schools have already started booking tickets for this.

The Children's Book Festival and East Sussex County Library and Information Service have joined together with the Inside Out Project to bring Herve Tullet, a French book illustrator, to schools in both Bexhill and Hastings. (Outside In is an organisation set up to promote, explore and celebrate world literature and particularly children's books in translation. www.outsideinworld.org.uk).

Jean added: " We are very lucky to have all these events in Bexhill to encourage a love of stories and poetry in local children and the Festival has been very successful in the past."
