Colourful College carnival lights up town

RYE was treated to a taste of Rio last week when Students from Rye College staged their colourful annoual street carnival.

They were joined by primary school youngsters from schools at Winchelsea and Guestling.

The Year 8 students designed and made the Carnival based on the theme of ‘Dlo’, which is the Haitian word for water. Those taking part wore beautiful Haitian masks and carried giant jellyfish.

Lauren Loveless, Head of Art said: “I am so proud of our students and the hard work that they put in to designing, making and performing today. Thank you to Guestling and Winchelsea for joining us to make the biggest, loudest, most colourful parade on such a beautiful day!
