Could you fill roles atRother Council?

ROTHER Council is seeking independent people to help standards committee deal with complaints when district or parish councillors may have breached the code of conduct.

The Council is looking for two people to support it with this complaints work.

Their views may be sought by a councillor against whom a complaint has been made. They will also be asked to attend hearings if necessary and will be a co-opted member of the standards committee.

The role fulfils a duty set down by the Localism Act 2011 under which a council has a duty to promote and maintain high standards of conduct by its councillors.

It is essential applicants can maintain high standards of impartiality, they are independent of any political party and of local government, and it would be helpful if they have an interest in probity and ethical issues. The posts have a yearly allowance of £340.
