Appeal after cyclist '˜bottled' in Hove

Sussex Police is renewing its appeal for witnesses after a serious assault with a glass bottle in Hove.

Investigators said at around 4.35pm on Thursday, April 20, a 29-year-old local man, was cycling along Brunswick Terrace.

Two men sitting in a silver Vauxhall Insignia shouted out to the man, police said, and he went over to the vehicle.

Officers said a dispute then broke out between the men, and as the victim walked away the suspects climbed out of the vehicle and one of them struck the victim over the head with a glass bottle.

Both suspects then made off in the vehicle travelling eastbound.

The victim was treated for a cut to his head at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

Two men, aged 22 and 18 from London, were arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and have been released under investigation.

Detective Sergeant Chris Lane said: “Although this incident occurred a few weeks ago we are still seeking further information from a number of people who may have witnessed the incident and hold vital information but have not yet come forward.”
