Brighton dog theft investigated by police '“ as Pip is reunited with owners

Pip, a greyhound-Great Dane crossbreed, was taken by three men and put into a black Volvo 4x4 which then made off from the scene, police said.

The dog has since been found in Burgess Hill and was reunited with its owners.

Sussex Police said the dog’s owner, a local man in his 30s, had been parked in a layby in Falmer Road, between the Amex stadium and Woodingdean, when the incident occurred around 5.20pm on Wednesday (October 10).

The following day (October 11), police located the vehicle in Crawley and the driver was arrested.

Police said a 23-year-old man from Horley in Surrey was arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of an offensive weapon – a knife – in a public place. He has since been released under investigation.
