Haywards Heath man’s driving ban after drink/drive crackdown

Five more motorists, including one from Haywards Heath, have been banned from the roads after being caught in Sussex Police’s Christmas crackdown.

According to a Sussex Police statement, two of the drivers were arrested on the first day of the campaign while one was found drunk at the wheel just hours before Christmas Day.

The convictions bring the total number of people punished by the courts for drink or drug-driving offences committed during the campaign to 96.

Among the latest bans mentioned in the police statement is Daniel Booth, 44, who was charged with drink-driving after officers stopped his car in Haywards Heath on 24 December after getting a tip-off that he had been drinking.

Booth, of Triangle Road, Haywards Heath, pleaded guilty and was banned from driving for three years. He was also ordered to pay a £110 fine, £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
