Here's why you might have seen a metal detector at Brighton railway station...
As part of Operation Sceptre, the national police operation which aims to reduce knife crime, Sussex Police have teamed up with British Transport Police to carry out searches this week.
The operation has resulted in numerous arrests and knives being seized across the county including one man arrested on Thursday March 14 with a knife and a balaclava while on his way into Brighton.
Posting on social media, Brighton and Hove Police said: "On #OpSceptre jointly with #BTP. A successful evening with an arrest of a male with a knife and balaclava on the way into #Brighton. Another knife off the street. #CC765 #CE190 #bootsontheground #prevention."
