Horsham motorist banned from roads for the third time for drink-driving

A Horsham motorist will serve a drink-driving ban for the third time after he was stopped by police in Storrington last month.

Terence Rosen, 57, of Bennetts Road, was arrested at 10.45pm on June 28 after police saw him speeding in his Renault Kangoo van in High Street, Storrington, with a faulty light.

Rosen, who has had drink-driving bans imposed in 2006 and 2009, was found to have 79 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of his breath - more than twice the legal limit.

He pleaded guilty to drink-driving and driving a vehicle without an MOT when he appeared at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on Thursday July 16.

He was banned from driving for 40 months, fined £110 and ordered to pay £235 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Chief inspector Phil Nicholas, of Sussex and Surrey roads policing unit, said: “This is the third time that Rosen has been caught drink-driving and the third time he has been banned.

“The message that drink-driving puts everyone on the roads in danger is clearly one that Rosen thinks doesn’t apply to him.

“Thankfully our officers spotted his faulty light and stopped his van before he could hurt anyone but on another occasion we might not have been there to get him off the roads before he caused an accident.

“We need to get selfish drivers like him off the roads. If you know someone like him who is drink-driving, please contact us so we can take action.”
