Pets Corner in Piries Place was targeted some time between 4.20pm on Sunday (February 16) and 8.15am on Monday morning (February 17).

Entry was gained through the back door which is just yards away from a busy multi-storey car park in the centre of town.

Regional manager Caz Murtagh said three locks on the door were ripped out and ‘totally annihilated’.

She told the County Times: “We left the site on Sunday at about 4.20pm. We came back in the morning and couldn’t get through to the back room and all the stock had been pushed up against the door.”

She pushed her way into the store and saw a safe - which was bolted to the ground - containing around £2,000 in cash had gone.

“I felt absolutely gutted,” continued the manager.

“I didn’t know whether I wanted to scream or cry. I felt it was an invasion of my home, because this place is like my home. It is horrible.

“Somebody must have seen something, even if they didn’t realise it was being broken into.”

She added nothing like this has happened in the Horsham store’s 12 year history.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage and are appealing to members of the public who may have seen someone acting suspiciously in the area.
