Knife-point robbery at Rottingdean shop

A robber took cash from the tills at Tesco Express in Rottingdean after threatening staff with a knife, police said.

The incident took place just before 9pm last night (October 2) at Tesco Express in West Street, Rottingdean.

Police said nobody was hurt during the robbery.

The suspect is described as white, of stocky build, about 6ft 2, and was wearing a light grey Emporio Armani hooded top with a large white motif on the chest and the top of the hood. Police said the hood was up. he also wore a pair of light grey tracksuit bottoms and a black face covering, possibly a scarf or balaclava, and light grey gloves.

Detective Inspector Ian Still said: “This is a busy spot at the bottom of the High Street and the junction with the A259 South Coast Road. If you were passing by on Tuesday evening and saw this man or have any other information, please contact us online or by calling 101, quoting serial 1199 of 02/10.”
