A man who was wanted in connection with a stabbing in Brighton was arrested after a PCSO recognised and followed him on her bike.
A police spokesman said: “The PCSO from the Brighton prevention team was out patrolling on a bike at the Level in Brighton on Sunday (May 27) when she started talking to a man who she then recognised as being wanted for causing grievous bodily harm after another man was stabbed two days before in Islington Road.
“The suspect then realised the PCSO had recognised him and walked off and then started running.
“She kept up with him on her bike and gave a running commentary for police units to respond and assist.
“After ten minutes of following him, a response officer arrived and he was arrested.”
Sergeant Chris Durrant said: “The PCSO was really determined not to lose sight of him and kept up on her bike while giving clear directions for our response officers to locate and arrest him. This was really good work by a member of our prevention team.”
A 20-year-old man from Saltdean was detained on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, assault, possession of cannabis and breaking his bail conditions and was released under investigation, police confirmed.
