Man charged after toddler left with head injuries near construction site in Brighton

A man has been charged with breaching health and safety rules after a three-year-old girl was hit on the head by falling timber in Brighton, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) said.

A spokesperson for HSE said: “Grzegorz Glowacki, 40, of Rugby Road, Brighton, has been informed he is being charged with an offence under Regulation 8 (1) of the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998.

“The incident took place outside a construction site on Preston Street, Brighton, on July 6 2018.

“The girl, who was in a buggy being pushed by her mother, suffered serious head injuries and remained in hospital for four months. Her recovery is ongoing.

“The defendant is due to appear at Brighton Magistrates Court on May 1 2019.”
