Man charged in connection with kidnap and sexual assault in Brighton

A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a sexual assault in Brighton, Sussex Police has said.

A police spokesperson said: "Mamdouh Ramzi, 44, a delivery man, of Tillstone Street, Brighton, was arrested following the incident involving a 20-year-old local woman, which is alleged to have occurred at a park in East Brighton in the early hours of Friday (May 17).

"The suspect appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Monday (May 20), charged with sexual assault and kidnap – common law.

"He was remanded in custody ahead of a pre-trial preparation hearing at Lewes Crown Court on June 17."

Police said anyone who has any information in relation to the incident should report it to police online or by calling 101, with the reference 178 of 17/05.
