‘Scam’ letter in Steyning

A ‘SCAM’ letter claiming the recipient is entitled to a large inheritance is circulating around Steyning, warn Sussex Police.

The letter has been received at several addresses across the town in recent weeks.

Police say it has a Chinese header, address, email and phone number. The writer claims to work for a large bank in Hong Kong and to have information about the recipient being entitled to money.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “This kind of letter is the preliminary step to seek your money and bank details.

“So far we know of nobody who has been taken in by it, but be aware. Do not reply. You can consider tearing up any such letter, but tell us and we will record the report for intelligence purposes.
