Schoolgirl 'shaken' after man grabs her backpack in Hove

Sussex Police said a man in his forties is reported to have 'grabbed at the backpack' of a 13-year-old girl who cycled by him in Hove.

Police said the girl was riding along Portland Road on Monday morning (March 4) when the man made a grab for her bag.

She shook herself loose and cycled off to a friend's home and called her mother.

She was uninjured, but said to be shaken by the incident, officers said.

The man is described as white, in his 40s, with stubble and wearing a blue or black jacket, navy blue chino trousers and a grey peaked hat.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have information about it is asked to report online or call 101 quoting serial 197 of 04/03.
