Sussex Police said a man has been arrested on suspicion of threats to kill after a seven-hour stand-off in Portland Road, Hove.

Officers sealed off the road at around 8am (December 7) after concerns were raised for a man who had ‘thrown items from the window’ and was ‘making threats’.

Dozens of police were called to the scene, including armed officers.

Around 2.45pm, a 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of threats to kill and is now in custody, police said.

Police thanked the public for ‘their patience and cooperation’ while the road was closed.
