Three teenagers arrested in connection with Brighton post office robbery

Sussex Police said it has made three further arrests in connection with the robbery of a post office in Brighton, bringing the total number of arrests to five.

Two others, a 17-year-old boy and 18-year-old man, both from Brighton, were arrested last month in connection with the incident at Lower Bevendean Post Office in Leybourne Parade, Bevendean, on Wednesday, January 16.

Today (February 4), police said a 16-year-old boy from Croydon was arrested at a Hove hotel on Tuesday, January 29. He was arrested on suspicion of robbery and grievous bodily harm with intent and has been released on bail until February 26, police said.

Officers then conducted arrests at a property in Hove on Thursday (January 31) where a further two suspects were discovered.

Police said a 16-year-old boy from Mottingham, London was arrested on suspicion of robbery and was released on bail until February 24. And a 16-year-old girl from Hove was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. She was released on bail until February 27.

Detective Constable Scarlett Millar said: “Thanks to the information provided by diligent members of the public we have been able to extensively progress this investigation.

“We are still urging anyone with any further information on the robbery of the post office to come forward and make contact with us.”
