Sussex Police said the suspect took cash from the tills at One Stop shop in Nevill Road at around 9.30pm, before fleeing the scene.

A police spokesperson said: “He jumped over the counter, threatened the assistant and took money from three tills, using one of the store’s carrier bags to put it into. He then jumped back over the counter and left the shop.”
