Selsey First Responders say that the forthcoming relocation of its nearest ambulance station to Tangmere has prompted ‘the need to take action to recruit additional trustees and new responders’.

“Selsey First Responders are at breaking point and desperately need help to continue the vital service they provide,” the group said in a statement.

“Selsey First Responders are unpaid volunteers and they quite often can be the difference between life and death.

“These trained volunteers live in Selsey and therefore have the advantage of being able to respond to a 999 call within seconds and, as we all know, every second counts.”

The Selsey First Responders volunteers are trained by the South East Coast Ambulance Trust to respond to 999 calls and provide life-saving emergency treatment to people living in Selsey.

The group’s caretaker chairman has organised an open meeting at Selsey Venture Club on March 21 at 7pm, where everyone is welcome to come along and meet the volunteers.
