Most schools to open on Friday

The majority of Brighton and Hove schools will open this morning (March 2), although many warn of icy conditions.

Some Brighton and Hove schools have been closed since Tuesday (February 27), when the Beast of the East hit.

But many schools are set to open in Brighton and Hove today, with some opening slightly later to give time for safe travel and to assess the weather conditions.

There are a couple of exceptions. St Mark's CE Primary School has had to close because its boiler has burst, and Bevendean Primary said because further snow is forecast:, 'we don't want to be in the situation of having to close part way through the day and sending children home'.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice and snow in Brighton and Hove today, with snow showers expected throughout the day.
