This week the development was officially opened by Cllr Anne Meadows, chair of the council's housing and new homes committee.

It includes six large four-bedroom houses in Salehurst Close, Hollingdean, along with two two-bedroom flats in nearby Lynchet Close.

They have been let through Homemove, the council's choice based lettings system.

Cllr Meadows said: “These are the first four-bedroom houses we’ve built in our New Homes for Neighbourhoods programme, which is providing much needed council homes on council land. It’s great to see families moving into the homes and settling into the local community.”

The New Homes for Neighbourhoods scheme aims to build at least 500 new homes for rent.

Schemes completed this year include: 57 flats at Kite Place in Whitehawk; 29 flats at Hobby Place in Whitehawk; and 45 flats at Brooke Mead extra care scheme in Albion Street, Brighton
