“We’re on route to a loose ostrich on the A21. Yup, that wasn’t a mistype, we really are. If you’ve lost one, call us,” they tweeted.

“Ostrich turned out to be an emu. No Rod Hull jokes please. Safely secured in a field nearby. Now begins the task of finding where it lives!”

The unit saw the funny side after Robert Price tweeted: “So why did the emu cross the road?”

To which the road policing unit replied: “to catch the chicken on the other side...”
