Extension refused

PLANS to demolish the single storey wing of a house in Waldron and build a two-storey extension have been refused by Wealden Council.

Members of the development control south sub-committee were told the owners of Hemings, Whitehouse Lane, already had permission to extend their home but wanted to increase the size of the extension.

In a letter to the council Mrs Vicki Redman said they wanted to offer her 82-year-old father accommodation and still have space to allow visits from their two unmarried children. 'Without the currently proposed extension and the space it affords we would be forced to make a choice as to whom we can accommodate,' she said.

But a report to councillors said the elongated form and bulk of the extension would be particularly apparent within the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and unduly dominate the existing dwelling.
