Norman Cook, aka DJ Fatboy Slim, has donated a limited edition signed pizza box containing a vinyl record to raise cash for Hove Lagoon.
The limited edition, signed pizza box contains a special remastered 180g vinyl and CD of his second album "You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby".
He has also donated a T-shirt to aid local group ‘Friends of Hove Lagoon (FoHL)’ in raising money for a much-needed green revamp of Hove Lagoon.
The pizza boxes were produced earlier this year to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of Norman’s second album, which was recently featured in a two-part BBC Radio 2 programme. The boxes were commissioned and signed by the DJ with the inscription: “Oh we do love to be beside the seaside”.
Brighton street artist Cassette Lord (Martin Middleton) has donated a painted mural on wood for the auction, which was donated by local building supplier Chandlers. The artwork will be divided into smaller pieces and sold separately at the auction.
Cassette Lord has also painted a sideboard donated by bespoke furniture designer Ben Baker of ‘F is for Furniture’.
The auction follows the inaugural LagoonFest at Hove Lagoon, which took place on Saturday, September 8, and raised £8,000 for the planting scheme.
The revamp of Hove Lagoon has been designed by Nicholas Dexter of la.nd studio and includes natural plantings, wildflowers and a herb garden. The aim is that it will attract more people and wildlife to the area.
Sue Johnson, secretary of FoHL, said: “We’re incredibly thankful to Norman and Martin for so generously donating such wonderful items to Friends of Hove Lagoon in order to raise money for the much-needed green revamp of Hove Lagoon.
"We’re also really grateful to Brighton General Auctions, who have agreed to auction the items pro bono. Our community is really getting behind this project and we’re hopeful that the auction will help boost the funds that we need in order to turn it into a reality.”
The auction will be at 10am on Wednesday, December 12 at Brighton General Auctions, with viewings from Tuesday, December 11 between 9am and 6pm.
