Fawlty Towers comes to Shoreham

THREE episodes of classic comedy Fawlty Towers will be presented by Adur Theatre Company.

Hilary "H" Reeves will recreate John Cleese's unforgettable Torquay hotelier from hell, Basil Fawlty, on stage at the Shoreham Centre from May 30 to June 2, as part of the Adur Festival.

All the best-loved characters from the programme, including Basil's over-coiffeured, domineering wife Sybil (Rosie Snow), the hopeless, but ever hopeful waiter Manuel (Ron Common), the calm and capable Polly (Katie Roberts) and the bumbling Major (Roger Deller) will star in episodes A Touch of Class, The Hotel Inspectors and Communication Problems.

The production is being directed by David Frost, who last year delighted audiences in the company's Adur Festival production of 'Allo 'Allo, when he played caf owner Ren Artois.

Auditions for Fawlty Towers attracted more than 32 would-be Basils, Sybils, Pollys, Manuels and Majors '“ and competition for the coveted roles was fierce.

Other memorable roles to be recreated include the two elderly, rather dotty ladies Miss Gatsby and Miss Tibbs (Eileen House and Mu Davis), Lord Melbury from A Touch of Class (Frank Horsley), Mr Hutchison, the spoon salesman, from The Hotel Inspectors (Paul Lynn) and the hard-of-hearing Mrs Richards in Communication Problems (Val Steele).

Tickets are available now, priced 7, in writing only from the Box Office, 27 Meadway Court, Southwick, BN42 4SL.

Cheques should be made payable to Adur Theatre Company and include a stamped addressed envelope with the ticket order.
