The event at Freshwinds Campsite, Pickham Farm, Watermill Lane, Pett, 12.30-7pm, aims to raise cash to provide accessible equipment for Westfield playground, so that Fia Kent can make the most of the playground while her mobility allows it.

Three year old Fia was diagnosed with Alexander disease earlier this year. Her mum, Lian says each piece of equipment they hope to get for the park costs £5-£10k and it will be of great benefit to her daughter and others. “It will be for all children to enjoy, regardless of their needs,” she said. “A place that families can go to spend time together; to provide a space to bring the community together.” One of the organisers of the Festival and Fun Day, Becky Rose says further fundraisers are planned and tomorrow will have something for everyone. “We have loads of fun children’s activities,” she said. “There will also be live music from Marie White, The Vexed, Roger Carey, Joe and Dave, Shy for Nothing, and an acoustic set from Abbie, a bar and food stalls. This is a very exciting event for us, and may possibly be the first festival of many.” Tickets, available from the New Inn, Westfield, cost: Adults £10, children (3-17yrs) £5. Under 3’s free.
