First 10k completed at age of 54

Having completed his first 10k at the age of 54, Philip Mitchell has presented a cheque to Littlehampton charity Jamie's Wish.

Philip, manager of Sussex Mobiles, in Manor Parade, Church Street, Littlehampton, ran the Arundel 10k in August, then the Littlehampton 10K a week later.

He finished in 50 minutes and raised £465 - but he is not finishing there.

Tracey Terry, founder of Jamie’s Wish, explained: “As there is no stopping him now, we have entered him into the London Marathon on April 23, 2017, running for Jamie’s Wish.

“He is out training five times a week. We are looking for a business to sponsor him to get the fundraising started.”
