Fishing boat rescues diver in distress
NEWHAVEN lifeboat was launched on Saturday morning to help a diver in trouble off Seaford Head.
The fishing boat Kestrel raised the alarm after seeing a person in the water waving a red flag. When the lifeboat arrived the sub aqua diver had been rescued and was aboard the vessel.
The man said he had been unable to swim back to the shore against the wind and tide. Once it was established he was in good health, the lifeboat launched its Y boat and transferred the diver back to the beach and in to the care of Newhaven coastguards.
