Margaret Delahoy, Public Health Development Worker for the PCT, said: "Unfortunately, each year hundreds of house fires are accidentally caused by a faulty electric blanket. Although they are made to strict safety standards, any blanket which is used or stored incorrectly or is more than five years old may be a fire risk.

"In addition to the blanket testing, the day will be a great opportunity for older people to get advice and information from other organisations who can offer them support."

Anyone who would like further information about the events should contact Margaret Delahoy on 07733 111292.
