Fun at Bexhill Library

A roomful of children and mums settled down for an afternoon of cutting out, colouring and creating at Bexhill Library.

They took part in the animal mask-making workshop on Wednesday afternoon, one of the summer activity events held during the school holiday. Jean Burke, assistant in charge of Learning Literacy and Children said: "We provide all the resources for them to do their own thing."

Rosie Daniels of Edinburgh Road was there with her seven year old son Ruairi who thought the workshop was "fantastic".

She said: "Ruairi is having fun - he is making a monster mask. I think this is a wonderful idea, as it gets children used to going to the library and seeing it as not just somewhere where you find boring old books. This brings books alive, and it makes the library a fun place to go as well as a learning environment.

"Ruairi is a member of the library - the whole family are members including the baby, and he comes along to the singalong-ryme session on a Wednesday ... it is wonderful. It is a lovely place, and it is free. I think Jean and the rest of the librarians do a fantastic job with these activities."
