And the school said the proportion of students who achieved a pass in the EBACC (gaining GCSEs in English, maths, two sciences, a humanity and a language) has also improved by five per cent to 37 per cent.

The national figure last year for this measure was 24 per cent.

A-Levels: Hove Park School celebrates results

There were 22 students who between them achieved 50 grade 9s – the top grade in the new GCSE system.

Hove Park said the majority of its students study a language at GCSE, with 100 per cent of students who took Mandarin gaining a pass.

There has also been a significant improvement in the attainment of students who receive pupil premium funding, the school said.

Headteacher Jim Roberts said: “Our Year 11 students have done exceptionally well and I am very proud of all their achievements. This success demonstrates the strength of the partnership between the school, our students and parents/carers, as well as showing what hard work, high quality teaching and determination can achieve. We wish all our students the very best for the future.”
