GCSEs: Longhill shows improvement in Progress 8

The headteacher of Longhill High School said students are making good progress as Year 11s picked up their GCSE results today (August 23).

Headteacher Kate Williams said: “The progress students at our school are making between arriving in year 7 and finishing their GCSEs is improving.

“This year’s results show an improvement in the government’s key ‘Progress 8’ measure.

“This bodes well for the future and builds confidence for all stakeholders.

“But with GCSE results down in some key areas, I fully recognise that we need to work even harder in future to achieve the improvements we want to see.

“I’m pleased that we have seen improvements in all the key priority areas we agreed with Ofsted, including disadvantaged students and upper ability pupils.

“I’m also thrilled with some outstanding individual achievements, including a plethora of 9s and 8s for a number of our students.

“I am very proud of our year 11 students and of all the hard work they have put in and I wish them every success in the future.”
