Girl on the line triggers rail alert

A GIRL was seen walking along railway tracks close to Seaford railway station.

A number of people called police as a train was due to pull in the station. Officers were sent to the scene and the police helicopter was despatched to fly over the area.

No trace of the girl was found but someone reported seeing her climbing on to the platform and running off.

Police say anyone found on or near the tracks will be prosecuted.

PC Martin Theelke, of Seaford police, said: 'It is incredibly dangerous to venture on to or near the tracks. The live rail carries lethal voltages and there is the added danger of being hit by a train.'
