CUCKMERE BUSES: Ever thought of becoming a Cuckmere bus driver? Tomorrow, Saturday, you can give it a go if you come along to the Cattle Market site, Market Street between 9am and 12.30pm. Richard will be there with the bus so you can take the bus for a spin around the site and see if becoming a volunteer Cuckmere Bus driver is for you. Bring along your ordinary D1 car driving license to the stand and get any questions you have answered.

UNDERSTANDING DEMENTIA: At Bowes House Care Home, Battle Road 2.30pm to 4.30pm on Wednesday. Speaker is dementia specialist Sally Hemmings covering what it might be like to live with dementia and some practical advice. What dementia is, how memories are lost, language changes, overcome communication barriers, discover positive approaches. Pick up a free Dementia Guide, complementary refreshments, meet other carers and share experiences. Meet the friendly team and have the opportunity to tour the home. BONSAI CLUB: On Monday at St Mary’s church in Hampden Park the speaker is Reg Bolton who has won eight Chelsea golds. Doors open 7.30pm for 7.45pm start. All welcome. Enquiries 07511 9334434.

KNITTING GROUP: The new season of shows and exhibitions is well under way now. Two regulars in the group went to Unravel at Farnham Maltings at the weekend and were enthusiastic at the range of yarn and accessories on show. Too easy to spend money was the verdict. The main talking point at the meeting was a report from Christine and Marie who had been to a Fair Isle class and had learnt about steeking. That’s a term applied to preparing and then cutting knitting done in the round, to fit in button bands, zippers, or sleeves. It sounds drastic to cut through worked stitching, but the samples they had worked had very neat finishes. The group meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at the Kings Head, at 7.30pm. Come along, or for information phone Su (07552 229473).

COMMUNITY GROUPS FORUM: If you are involved in running a local club, group, society or other organisation, go along at 6.30pm to St Mary’s Church Lounge on Wednesday to meet others and exchange ideas. THURSDAY FELLOWSHIP: There will be a DVD showing about Sierra Leone on Thursday at 2.30pm at The Gospel Mission in Station Road. All welcome.

COMPUTERS FOR CHARITIES: Waitrose Hailsham Community matters has donated £125 to CfC. Simon Rooksby, would like to thank Waitrose and Hailsham shoppers for their support. ‘It does make a difference’ he said. There was also a donation of £50 from Hailsham ASDA Community Life. ‘CfC operates totally from volunteer support, without funding or grants and seeks to make a difference locally and wider afield. Thank you.’

BARN DANCE: After a very successful join event hosted by Hailsham FM online radio and Environment Hailsham the grand total raised and split equally after expenses between the two organisations was a massive £860. Both groups were delighted and are looking forward to another fundraising event in June. Thanks to all the organisers, everybody involved and all the people who came along to support the event and enjoyed had a great evening.

CRICKET CLUB: Hailsham CC are looking for volunteers to help with the Groundsman work at their two cricket grounds at Roebuck Park, Hellingly and the main ground in Hailsham. The role requires someone who enjoys working outside and is able to use light machinery to maintain and prepare the wickets. This role requires two to three hours a week. In exchange for your time the club will offer membership for a season, clothing and any support needed for this important job.
