Hastings and Rother Diabetes Support Group

THE Hastings and Rother Diabetes Support Group was in Priory Meadow Shopping Centre on Saturday promoting Diabetes Awareness Week.

The event was declared open by Brett Mclean at 10am.

The group had an amazing amount of interest in the stand and were overwhelmed by the amount of people who came over for a chat.

Caroline Cornford, chair, said: “We had so much interest in the stand that most of our leaflets have been depleted!”

Being the local voluntary group for Diabetes UK they have all the information that you need on diabetes.

They also have group meetings where you can chat about anything regarding diabetes to others that are diabetic and can discuss over a cuppa your queries and dilemmas.

The next meeting is on June 30 at the Friends Meetings House, South Terrace at 10.15am. A fitness instructor will be giving a talk.

Diabetes is a common life-long health condition and there are two main types of diabetes - Type 1 and Type 2.

There are 2.9 million people diagnosed with diabetes in the UK and an estimated 850,000 people who have the condition but don’t know it.

Anyone with or an interest in diabetes is welcome to come along to the group meetings.

They are also always on the lookout for new committee members who are keen and willing to help.
