Hastings council warning over '˜bogus letter'

People in Hastings have today (January 29) received a '˜bogus letter' claiming to be from the council.

The letter, which claims it is from Hastings Borough Council, asks for a cash payment for a new waste collection service.

A spokeswoman said: “We are very concerned that some residents have received a bogus letter claiming to be from Hastings Borough Council regarding a new bin service.

“This is a scam. We urge residents not to leave money out on their doorstep for collection as requested.

“Hastings Borough Council is not in the process of changing any aspect of the waste and recycling collection.”
