More than 1,000 volunteers make up Team Brighton, making sure the events run smoothly.

Volunteers roles include call centre staff, medical professionals, sports masseurs, drivers, marshals and those manning drinks stations along the route.

A volunteer briefing evening is being held on Wednesday (March 20) for those volunteers already registered, providing them with key timings, emergency protocols and course maps.

Stuart Batchelor, vice president at American Express, said: “Since the start in 2010, thousands of people have volunteered with energy and enthusiasm, making this long-running event very special.

"Whether you generously donate your time every year, or are a newcomer, all volunteers play a crucial role in making the Brighton Marathon Weekend happen.

"In this 10th anniversary year we hope to have more volunteers on board than ever, in support of one of our region’s biggest annual sports events.”
