Ho, ho, ho there may not be snow but watch those Santa's go, go, go..

It's nearly that time of year again and to get the festive season off with a bang the Bexhill Lions Club has announced that its annual fun Santa Dash will return on Saturday December 3.

The popular family festive event is open to all ages and abilities and will be held at the De La Warr Pavilion (DLWP) and Bexhill seafront.

Lion President Rick Hough says this is a great opportunity to get into the festive spirit whilst raising vital funds for your chosen good causes. “You can run, jog, walk, push prams, walk the dog or use a wheelchair on the flat user friendly promenade,” he said.

“This year there will be awards for the best decorated pram, wheelchair and dog.”

All proceeds from the event will go to the Bexhill Lions Club Charitable Trust Fund which supports deserving causes within the local community.

Registration is from 10.30am on the DLWP terrace and the festive hooter will start the entrants from near the fountains at 11.30am. The Sauntering Santa’s will ‘dash’ (at their own pace) along the Seafront towards Brookfields Road, returning to the DLWP terrace, a distance of 2km (1.2miles).

Alternatively, those Santa’s keen to get in training for their busy Christmas deliveries can go on to Galley Hill, turn back to West Parade toilets and return to the terrace, a distance of 5km (3.1miles).

Event Organiser Andrea Etheridge said: “We would like people to register as soon as possible so that we have a good idea as to how many suits we will need. We are looking forward to another great colourful event.”

Lion Rick says this is a great event that the whole town can be involved with. “We hope hundreds will take part. In the past years the sight of over 160 Santas, classic cycles and the marching ATC in full santa uniform were just brilliant.

“So come along with family, friends, school mates and work colleagues and start the festive season with a really FUN event.”

Register via: www.bexhill-lions.org. Entry £11.50 Adults (aged 14 and above), £6.50 child (5-14 years), which includes a free Santa outfit to run in. Sponsorship forms can be downloaded. Registration available on the day but a suit may not be guaranteed.
