Homes painted blue and white to mark Albion's promotion

The houses on Viaduct Road are painted with congratulations to the team, with the Seagulls’ crest and colours.

Russell Williams of Homelets said: “The tenants are lifelong fans and we wanted to show our support too.”

The move follows Albion’s 2-1 win on Monday (April 17) which gave the club enough points to guarantee promotion.

Viaduct Road is known for its home disguising eulogies with one being to the Beastie Boy’s album Licence to Ill and another house was covered with a Queen Victoria mural.

Mr Williams said: “It’s a pretty road, might as well make it prettier.”

It isn’t the first time the properties have made the news. A photo of them covered in a big St George’s cross was used on the front page of The Times.

This was down to the owner’s support for an England national team effort in the Euro championships.

Mr Williams said The Times had got back in touch, and the blue and white striped homes had garnered interest from ITV news.

This show of celebration for the team isn’t the only case of dedication from die-hard fans in Brighton.

Dorothy Purvis, of Ryde Road, has also painted her house in the Albion’s home colours to wish them well in the top flight of British football.

She said: ”I had a few coppers, so I had it painted blue.”
