The Linen Shop, in the Carfax, has seen its products on big screens across the country after provided materials to help create multiple backdrops for sets in the new film Mr Holmes, starring Sir Ian Mckellen.

The film tells the story of a retired Sherlock Holmes who is looking back on his life and on one case in particular which he could not solve.

It is set in a cottage based in the South Downs and the store has provided fabrics which have been used to decorate the building creating items such as curtains and window seats.

Fran White, owner of the store, said she was very excited the store was playing a part in the film.

She said: “I think it very exciting because it is set in Sussex.

“Our products are in three different locations. One in the kitchen, one in his study and one in his bedroom.

“In one particular scene in his bedroom they are sitting in front of the window and you can quite clearly see our fabrics.”

This is the third time items from the store have appeared in a big Hollywood movie.

Back in 2009 fabrics from the shop were used in multiple sets for the film Brightstar and last year they were also called upon again to provide material for Mr Turner.

Fran added: “I have been to see the film. It does strangely take you away from it trying spot all our items all the time.
