All Saints Church: Sunday August 24, 10.30 - Parish Eucharist celebrating one of the less well-known apostles, St Bartholomew, who was also called St. Nathaniel. Friday August 22. 11am - the Wedding of Barry Stunt and Jenny Hall. The August Church Market raised £242.19 for Church funds. Thanks to everyone who contributed in any way.

Art Show & Sale: Saturday,Sunday and Monday of this Bank Holiday weekend, the local Art Group will be having their Show and Sale in the Memorial Hall, 10am-4pm. Admission is free. Auction of Promises: The Robin Hood Bonfire Society is holding its Auction of Promises on Bank Holiday Monday (August 25) starting at 1.30pm in the Robin Hood garden. There will be lots of lots, so come along and grab a bargain. This is the Society’s main fundraising event. All the proceeds go towards the fireworks on Bonfire Night. If anyone has a service which they would like to pledge, an item to auction or a raffle prize just contact Sue on 01424 814277.

1066 disgrace: August Bank Holiday weekend will bring many walkers to the 1066 footpath. Unfortunately its condition in parts of this village is deplorable. The path between the derelict World War Two hut and the old Vicarage is almost impassable and the path behind the school and neighbouring houses needs a good tidying up.

Scarecrow competition: Make a scarecrow! Either a superhero or a villain (famous or invented). Your scarecrow has to be displayed to the public for two weeks August 30 to September 14. Get an entry form for free from Icklesham shop. You get an entry number. This is a must because there will be a vote with cash prizes - £10 for the best superhero and £10 for the best villain. Voting forms are available from the shop, where you also hand them back when completed. In order to keep this fair, judging forms will cost £1 each. This will go to the New Pavilion Fund. Votes in by 12.30pm on Sunday September 7. Winners will be on the noticeboard the next day. That famous superhero, The Velvet Hammock, wishes you luck
