The funeral has taken place of Mrs Ivy Corke whose full life is described elsewhere. Everyone expresses the deepest sympathy to all her family ,friends and former neighbours.

Lydd has not extended its runway but passenger jets will be flying from there on several days this month. Newmarket Holidays has had to relocate from the recently closed Manston Airport and is using Boeing B737s operated by the Lithuanian charter company Small Planet for some of its holiday tour traffic.Greatstone Primary School is 600 metres from the runway and the Army’s firing ranges at Lydd presumably will not be in action.

Syd Mylrea reports that “ The Quiz Night at Manor Farm Oast was a sell out with 6 tables competing. Each team enthusiastically answering the general knowledge questions from Quiz Master, Stephen Travers. The picture quiz created much discussion during the buffet break.

The eventual winners were Empty Heads closely followed by Village People. Money raised for Breast Cancer Care was over £300, with almost £50 in additional donations”.

This is the first leg of Kate and Syd’s fund raising. The next function will be a Garden Party on Sunday 6 July from 12 noon till 3pm. Ricochet have kindly agreed to play and there will be a treasure hunt and the raffle will be drawn. Kate will be serving a Ploughman’s Lunch with a glass of wine or soft drink for £6.00. It would help with catering if people booked the lunch.

Kate will be doing a 10 mile trek leaving Leeds Castle on Sunday 8 June , closely followed by the Annual Race for Life in Hastings 15 June at Hastings. If you would like to sponsor her please go to www,justgiving/Kathryn-Mylrea
