Sunday 24 November 10.30 Morning Prayer in the Parish Church.

Tomorrow Saturday 23 10am -12 noon in The Five Villages a Christmas Sale in aid of the Mini Bus Fund. Everybody is welcome. Refreshments, bric-a-brac,cake stall, Christmas cards and a raffle.

Monday 25 the A.G.M. of the Icklesham Trust in the Memorial Hall. The Trust runs both the Hall and the Pavilion and all Icklesham’s societies and clubs are represented on it. The meeting starts at 7.30 but from 7.00pm there will be wine and nibbles and an opportunity to chat to committee members and raise any issues which you may have.

A report will be given by the Sports Clubs on the progress of the New Pavilion.

Last Saturday’s Quiz was another success raising£472. £254 was donated to Macmillan Nurses and £218 to the New Pavilion Fund. Stuart Baker tanks everybody involved especially all of those for taking part in the “heads and tails” which boosted the profit for the nurses. Thanks to the Ladies Darts Team for being perfect hostesses and to Emma Bellchamber for her help during the evening.

The 30 somethings won closely followed Empty Heads,Stalybridge Celtic,Table in the Corner, Nobby’s Nuts,One Out All Out, Golden Arrows, Casualties,Fab 5,High Fords Hooligans,Team Name,Flower Power,Saints and Sinners, Grown Ups, 6Dandy’s and Pre-War.

The next Quiz is Saturday 18 January 2014 at 7.30 with 16 teams already booked.

Tomorrow Saturday 23 Starting at 7.30 Ricochet the 60s Rock ‘n’ Roll Band perform in the Memorial Hall. Thanks to the band for being the guests. Tickets are £5 and can be bought in advance or on the door. There is a licensed bar and a great raffle. The first prize is a Champagne afternoon tea at Manor Far Oast kindly donated by Kate and Syd Mylrea. There is also a bottle of whisky and other prizes. Even if you can’t come you could donate a prize or spend £1 on a strip of tickets.

This social evening is to raise funds for the New Pavilion.

Stuart thanks those who walked and those who sponsored the Eastbourne Pier to Hastings Pier Walk last month. Nearly £1000 has been raised.

Sunday 24 The Queen’s Head live music 4-6pm has unplugged blues with Baggee & Armer and on Wednesday 27 the pub has a Help the Heroes Quiz Night at 8.30pm.

Saturday 30 November - a week tomorrow - Santa Claus will be visiting Icklesham Memorial Hall between 10.00 am and 1.00pm. It’s the Icklesham Church Christmas Church Fayre with refreshments,cards, hand crafted jewellery,tombola,raffle and lots of stalls.

Friday 6 December 7.30 at All Saints Church, Icklesham, A Christmas Concert by the Rye “Wall of Sound” Choir- a Selection of Christmas Music and Songs.There will be a Retiring Collection in aid ot The Children’s Society.t

The popular monthly Church Markets are saying “Thank You” to all their suppliers and supporters on Saturday 14 December at 10.30am to 12.30pm. Join them for Mulled Wine,Mince Pies and Carols.

Saturday 7 December the Last Craft Fair of 2013 10.30am - 2.30pm in the Memorial Hall. In addition to the many colourful stalls here will a Christmas Raffle with a draw on the hour throughout the fair.Refreshments are available and there’s lots of free parking.

There will also be craft events on 8 and 15 December between 10am and 3 pm at Harborough Nurseries. There will be over 20 stalls to look at whilst finding a tree. Festive refreshments will be available. All proceeds will be donated to St. Michael’s Hospice.

Maureen Callis would like everybody to be aware of a way in our Hospice could be helped.

“St. Michael’s Hospice needs your vote. They applied for a grant through The People’s Millions to transform their Day Therapy Service.Their application has been successful and they now are one of six finalists in Kent and Sussex to be put forward for the award.

The People’s Millions is a partnership between the Big Lottery Fund and ITV where the public help decide annually which local community projects get up to £50000 of Lottery funding. Meridian TV visited the Day Centre a couple of weeks ago and the film will be screened on Wednesday 27 November at 6.30pm. Two charities will be featured on each of three nights and having made their appeal, it is then up to the viewers to choose a winner each night by phoning in on the given number. Calls will cost 10p from a BT landline and you can ring in 10 times. Lines will be open from 9am till midnight on the 27th - you can find the number on St. Michael’s website (www.stmichaelshospice.com) or by ringing the Hospice (01424 445177), and vote before the programme if you wish.

The Day Therapy Centre offers people with progressive life-limiting illnesses the opportunity to meet new people,enjoy activities and receive special therapies. The new enlarged Centre will enable more people to attend and more activities and facilities to be offered. The award will go towards extending the service,creating an internet-style café to help patients use the internet and skype, and a specialist arts and crafts therapy room with photographic facilities.

To win the award will require about 20000votes. So please spend £1 and call the relevant number 10 times and tell everyone you know wherever they live to call too. Your Hospice needs your help in order to help others.”

Wickham Manor is the fine Tudor House on the 1066 path between Icklesham and Winchelsea. Last week’s “Sunday Times” had a splendid photo of the local landmark next to a picture of Mason Palmer,his wife Sally and their son Robert. The family live in the Manor and farm 664 acres of the organic land with crops and livestock. The Masons took on the tenancy in 1998 and were responsible for making the farm so environmentally friendly. The landlords are the National Trust. Two years ago the Trust increased the rent from £37000 to £105000. The two sides cannot agree and now an arbitrator has been appointed. The article include other instances of disagreement between the National Trust and its tenants.

Sunday8 December in winchelsea Church at 6.30 “ Say It With Music2. This is a unique show presented by Ann Rachlin, the brilliant story teller of the world of music. Ann has written the life of Irving Berlin who wrote the words and the music of so much music of 20th century America, Images and videos integrate seamlessly into the show. The familiar song are specially arranged by Iain Kerr and will be performed by Pegasus the London choir who have been impressing Winchelsea audiences for the past three years, We were enthralled when we saw it in Durham. Don’t miss it.
